Meet Our Lead Planner!
Heather Docherty has over seven years of experience in wedding planning and management, helping over 100 couples fully enjoy their special day. She is a Trained Wedding Planner with the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners (AACWP).

In an effort to be more inclusive of all couples, Heather became Equally Wed Certified in 2021. Outside of HD Events, Heather is a current member of the Pittsburg KS Pride board, a former member of Q Space, a local LGBTQ+ non-profit, and a former member of the City of Pittsburg's Human Relations Commission.
Heather is also working to build a network of wedding and event professionals in the Southeast Kansas area who are globally inclusive. We believe every couple and family should be able to celebrate life's joyous events without fear of discrimination.

The American Association of Certified Wedding Planners
The mission of the AACWP is to educate wedding planners and to promote wedding planning practices of the highest quality to ensure that client expectations are surpassed. All members are required to complete an accredited training program and agree to the AACWP code of ethics, which requires that members reject any vendor compensation in exchange for referrals. The organization provides continuing education and support, and helps planners to run sound businesses and to serve their clients to their very best abilities!
