About the Owners: Heather & Scott Docherty

We got engaged in the autumn of 2015 and immediately began planning our wedding. Choosing our venue was easy because Scott was working as the venue bartender. Soon after we booked our date, we found out the owners were planning to sell. We began managing the venue in January 2016 and changed the name. We chose Carbon Creek as a nod to local coal mining history and the primary element in diamonds, the traditional engagement gem.


Planning our own wedding while managing the venue gave us a different perspective. We didn't want to worry about decorating the venue the day of our wedding or cleaning in our formal wear afterward. It didn't seem right to ask our clients to worry about things we didn't want to deal with ourselves. As a result, we structured our policies and packages so our clients, their families, and guests can enjoy their event. Our goal is to make your event as stress-free as possible. 


After managing the venue for a year and a half, we wanted to offer more services to our clients. We began with linen and decor rentals, then Heather decided to take classes to become a wedding planner. In January 2018, she earned her Wedding Planner Certification and is now a Trained Wedding Planner with the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners. Her portfolio is a work in progress and she can't wait to share her current wedding projects with you!
